Algol (Early Alpha)

Descend into the depths to find the source of evil that haunts a small town and their local castle. Algol is a dungeon crawler with turn-based combat. Gameplay-wise, it takes inspiration from Diablo 1 and from Minesweeper. This is an early alpha version of the game, there is still placeholder art for the enemies and the UI is from an older version before a rework. That said, the basic gameplay is there.
Controls:
- Click to clear grid cells and interact with enemies and items
- 1-8 are for the hotbar
- QWER for the ability/spell slots
Planned additions:
- Multiple environments and varying terrain generation for each
- A town for quests, shops, and the like
- Shrines to sacrifice trophies at to gain experience and stats (currently you just drop an exp gem on the stat you want to increase.)
- Variety of quests and storylines that can appear on each playthrough
- Multiple classes and unique talent trees for each
NOTE ON DEVELOPMENT:
Due to the early state, it is very limited and some things (like half the stats that can show up on gear) do not work. To aid with testing, the first level should always be the same, but the second level should always be random.
I am between places at the moment, so my computer that has all the files needed to work on this is in storage. This means that there may not be an update for awhile, nor can I currently go in and make it so the first level is random as well. However, I figured I'd still show what I currently have made to maybe get some feedback on the idea in the mean time.
